Jakarta, May 22, 2025 — Cerita Films has released the official poster and trailer for their latest film, Sore Istri dari Masa Depan (Wife from the Future’s Afternoon). This romantic fantasy drama, written and directed by Yandy Laurens and produced by Suryana Paramita, is set to premiere in cinemas across Indonesia on July 10, 2025.
The official poster of Sore Istri dari Masa Depan features a spiral staircase where the character Jonathan (played by Dion Wiyoko) stands at the top, with Sore (Sheila Dara) following him while holding his wrist. On other steps, several versions of Sore are seen with varying emotional expressions, carrying a deeper, symbolic meaning.
In the official trailer, Jonathan is shocked by the sudden appearance of a woman named Sore, who claims to be his wife from the future. Set against the beautiful backdrop of a small Croatian town, Jonathan slowly begins to believe that Sore, who knows intricate details about him, including the time of his death, has come to offer him a second chance to improve his life.
“Hendra, our film editor, played a vital role in creating the trailer. We aimed to craft a trailer that truly represents the film while also preserving the surprises in the story, ensuring that viewers don’t miss out on the full experience during the actual screening. With Hendra’s sensitivity to music (since he was in a band) and visuals (he’s a graduate of graphic design), he produced a trailer that captures the essence of the film without revealing its twists. We’re fortunate to have Hendra on board,” said Yandy Laurens, the writer and director of Sore Istri dari Masa Depan.
“Presented in a new format, Sore Istri dari Masa Depan will feature tributes to its web series format for a touch of nostalgia. Several elements have been included in the trailer, such as Sore breaking Jonathan’s cigarette sticks and discarding his alcoholic drinks. Of course, the iconic poem recited by both Sore and Jonathan, along with one of the soundtrack’s iconic songs by Adhitia Sofyan, Forget Jakarta, will also be present,” explained Producer Suryana Paramita. “Additionally, there will be plenty of new touches in terms of the story, visuals, and other songs not featured in the previous format.”
Sore Istri dari Masa Depan marks the fourth collaboration between actors Dion Wiyoko and Sheila Dara Aisha and writer-director Yandy Laurens. In every project, their collaboration continues to evolve with new and exciting dynamics.
“Returning as Jonathan after 8 years in the web series format feels like reconnecting with an old friend. But at the same time, I feel there’s a new warmth and maturity that has emerged,” shared Dion about reprising his role as Jonathan. “Working alongside Yandy and Sheila has been a very interesting process, as I got to explore a ‘new’ Jonathan.”
“I’ve always admired the character of Sore, as portrayed by Tika Bravani in the web series. So when I was entrusted with playing Sore in this feature film version, I felt a mix of anxiety and doubt, but also immense pride for the honor. I’m grateful to be surrounded by such a solid and supportive team, including Yandy, Mita, Dion, and everyone else. I hope the Sore that I bring to life will be well received by the audience,” said Sheila about playing the character of Sore.
