Jakarta, May 6, 2026 — Viu, the premium streaming service from PCCW Media, has officially announced that its highly anticipated original drama THE SEASON will premiere on June 17, 2026. Alongside the release date, the platform also revealed the series’ first key art, offering audiences a glimpse into the opulent yet tension-filled world that defines the show.
This announcement marks the beginning of Viu’s global campaign for THE SEASON, a six-episode, star-studded thriller set to stream exclusively across Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa, including Indonesia.
The newly released key art captures the essence of Hong Kong’s old-money elite — a world of dazzling luxury on the surface, but one that conceals deep secrets and simmering conflict beneath. More than just a visual introduction, the artwork serves as an editorial hint: behind the glittering façade of the city’s high society season, a fierce confrontation is quietly taking shape.
At the heart of THE SEASON lies the intricate and often ruthless social circle of Hong Kong’s elite, where connections are currency and power is everything. Central to this world is the Hext family, an old-money dynasty that dominates the upper echelons through lavish yacht parties, high-stakes horse racing, and glamorous charity galas — all while scandals brew behind closed doors.
Into this carefully controlled environment steps Cola, a mysterious outsider with a hidden agenda. As rivalries intensify and alliances turn dangerous, the story builds toward a dramatic clash that threatens to upend the very foundations of Hong Kong’s high society.
The series features an impressive international cast. Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone) leads as Cola, joined by Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and three-time Golden Horse Award-winning actress Karena Lam as Christopher and Fiona Hext — a charismatic yet deeply complex power couple.
Further strengthening the global ensemble are Chris Pang (Interior Chinatown), Celina Jade (Wolf Warrior 2), Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun), Yvonne Chapman (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Kōki (recipient of the Rising Star of Asia Award 2025), and Lee Jae-yoon (Physical 100 Season 2).
THE SEASON is created by showrunner and executive producer Yalun Tu, with Chilean director Marialy Rivas (The Jetty, Dignity) serving as lead director and executive producer. Executive production is led by Janice Lee, CEO of PCCW Media & Viu, alongside Agatha Lo. From SK Global — the studio behind Crazy Rich Asians, Thai Cave Rescue, and Delhi Crime — the series is also executive produced by Chloe Dan (EVP, Head of Television), with Matt Aragachi and Dylan Tarason.
As one of PCCW Media’s most ambitious original productions to date, THE SEASON represents a significant milestone for Viu as it continues to expand its premium drama portfolio — delivering globally appealing stories rooted in Asian narratives.
