Viu will soon present its latest drama titled “Ranah Pusaka.” This time, Viu is collaborating with Grab to bring this series, which is adapted from the best-selling novel by Nellaneva. The drama will be ready to captivate drama lovers in March. “Ranah Pusaka” will star Vonny Felicia and Fahad Haydra, and production has already begun this week in Jakarta.
In an old boarding house, Kali, played by Vonny Felicia, Badran, played by Alif Rivelino, and Ilyas, played by Ryuken Lie, dream of one thing: freedom. Behind each of their personal problems, they all want to create something, defy limitations, and find their own path in life.
However, their plans change when Arka, played by Fahad Haydra, the owner of the boarding house, offers them an irresistible deal. Arka is looking for something—a relic or precious item that is very important but has yet to be found.
In exchange for free rent, the three of them agree to help Arka search for the hidden relic. But the deeper they dig, the more secrets are uncovered—not just about the boarding house but also about themselves. For Vonny, “Ranah Pusaka” is a unique challenge in her career because she must play a character that is very different from her everyday personality.
“I’m required to play someone who is very different from myself. Usually, I’m cheerful and upbeat, but in this drama, I become Kali, a harsh and reserved person. She chooses to stay in the boarding house because of problems with her ex and her friend, yet she struggles to open up to others. I become a character who is independent and fighting for freedom,” she explained in a press release to RRI.
On the other hand, Fahad plays a calm and serious character. Both he and Vonny had no difficulty building chemistry together, alongside Alif and Ryuken.
“I play an orphaned young man who is lonely and doesn’t have many friends. He is the child of an archaeologist, more serious compared to the three friends living in his boarding house,” said Fahad.
Alif portrays Badran, a rebellious character with a dark past in his family. Meanwhile, Ryuken Lie plays Ilyas, a dreamer caught in a dilemma. With a strong storyline, deep performances, and stunning visuals, Ranah Pusaka is ready to become a drama that not only entertains but also leaves a lasting impression on its viewers.
Unlike others, Ranah Pusaka carries a slice-of-life genre with a touch of mystery. It feels heartwarming as it touches on issues of mental health and family.
Through Instagram, Nellaneva, the writer, and Viu have revealed the cast for the Ranah Pusaka series. Although the novel cover shows five people, only four characters are featured: Ryuken Lie, Vonny Felicia, Fahad Haydra, and Alif Rivelino, who will play Badran, Ilyas, Kali, and Arka.
Ryuken Lie, Vonny, and Fahad Haydra are newcomers in the Indonesian series scene. The casting choice for the main leads is a bold move by the production house, ensuring that series enthusiasts won’t get bored seeing the same actors repeatedly.
For example, Ryuken Lie, who debuted in 2020, has never played a leading role until now. Some of his popular projects include Dari Jendela SMP (2021), Argantara (2022), and Indigo: What Do You See? (2023).
