The Script Release New Album Before World Tour

After 10 billion streams, 12 million album sales, six #1 albums in the UK and two Platinum-certified singles in the United States, The Script are back with the release of their latest album titled Satellites on Friday, August 16, 2024. Announced alongside news of a UK, European and recently added Asian leg of the 2025 arena tour, the album officially hits stores today with the single ‘Both Ways’.

‘Both Ways’ showcases The Script’s energetic new sound, with a boisterous hip-hop and funk beat that delivers an irresistible dance floor vibe. The song reminds listeners of the Black Eyed Peas performing Bruno Mars’ ‘Locked Out of Heaven’ and it’s a world apart from anything The Script has released before.

“The song ‘Both Ways’ is high-energy, and maybe not what people expect from us. But we are The Script, and now we have something to prove: that there is life and light after darkness. That’s why we came in fast and strong with this song,” said Glen Power, The Script’s drummer.

The Script’s Satellites Album Meaning

Promising to pay tribute to their friend, Mark Sheehan who passed away last year, by continuing the band they had built together, vocalist Danny O’Donoghue went back into the studio and experimented in various ways. He used 808s and played with R&B-inspired sounds, focused on upbeat sonics, and co-wrote with hitmakers Steve Robson (Rascal Flatts, Take That) and Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj), as well as his bandmate Glen Power.

The result is Satellites, an exhilarating collection of songs that forges a new future for The Script, while remembering that even though Mark is no longer here, he remains an important part of everything they do.

“The album cover is a silhouette of me, Glen and Ben Sargeant, our bassist, who has been with us since the beginning. Then we have the hooded silhouette, because Mark’s aura is still there. He’ll always be like that, but it also gives a little glimpse into the future. The script will never be the same. We’re just trying to move forward and do what we all feel is the right thing to do, which is keep making more great music,” Danny said.

The Script’s latest album is available as a limited edition hardback book CD, vinyl LP and standard CD. The Script’s official store also offers limited edition white vinyl, cassettes, and new merchandise.
