Viu Indonesia will present Saudade, a new teen drama that is set to captivate viewers with its emotional storyline, relatable characters, and a lineup of talented actors.
The series is based on a novel by Asriaci, which has been read over 24 million times and received 1.8 million votes.
“Saudade tells the story about the past. It’s about someone in the future, longing for things that happened in the past,” said Asriaci during the Cast Reveal event for Viu Original Saudade at Lotte Mall Kuningan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, December 17.
Saudade tells the story of Kashi, a high school girl who experiences heartbreak when her boyfriend, Daffa, suddenly breaks up with her and starts getting close to her best friend, Resty.
When her world feels like it’s falling apart, Kashi meets Akash, a rebellious student whose presence becomes a turning point in Kashi’s journey to find love and herself.
From a hate-to-love relationship, their story evolves into a deep journey that uncovers the complexities of romance, family values, and the struggle to find one’s identity.
Saudade offers a fresh and deep perspective on the dynamics of teenage relationships filled with emotion and challenges.
The story of Saudade is also inspired by the author’s personal life.
“Some of it is inspired by my personal life, but for a novel or fiction to be engaging, it needs some added drama to make it interesting,” said Asriaci.
The drama will feature rising young stars from Indonesia, including Abun Sungkar (Akash), Callista Arum (Kashi), and Vonny Felicia (Mawar).
The drama is also supported by Lorenzo Gibbs, Bianca Hello, Adel Reva, Dimas Putra, and Isad Gadaffi.
With a strong storyline and characters close to the teenage experience, Saudade is set to be an impressive watch for loyal Viu viewers.
The 12-episode series will premiere in March 2025, bringing a story filled with a love triangle full of intrigue, deep emotional conflicts, and touching moments about self-discovery.
