JAKARTA — Indonesia Comic Con (ICC) is celebrating a major milestone in 2026 as it marks its 10th edition, bringing a decade of pop culture fandom, creativity, and community to Jakarta.
Taking place on October 3–4, 2026, at JIExpo Kemayoran, this year’s event carries the theme “A Decade of Pop Culture Fiesta,” celebrating not only ICC’s journey but also the growth of Indonesia’s pop culture ecosystem over the past decade.
For 10 years, Indonesia Comic Con has brought together fans, creators, communities, and industry players across a wide range of interests—from comics, anime, movies, and TV series to video games, collectibles, toys, and cosplay.
A Decade of Pop Culture in Indonesia
Indonesia Comic Con Project Manager Lulu Anwar described the 10th edition as a particularly meaningful milestone for the event.“This year is very special for us because ICC is entering its 10th edition with the theme A Decade of Pop Culture Fiesta. Ten years is certainly not a short journey.”
According to Lulu, while ICC has evolved significantly over the past decade, its role as a meeting point for different parts of the pop culture ecosystem remains at the heart of the event.“One thing that has always remained the same is how ICC brings together fans, creators, communities, brands, associations, and industry players through their shared love of pop culture.”
Lulu also expressed appreciation to the media, communities, associations, creators, and pop culture enthusiasts who have supported ICC throughout its journey.
For ICC, the 10th anniversary is about more than celebrating an event. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the people and communities that have helped shape Indonesia’s pop culture landscape.“For us, 10 years of ICC is not just about 10 years of an event, but also about 10 years of the pop culture ecosystem in Indonesia. That is why, for our 10th edition, we want to celebrate not only ICC itself, but everyone who has been part of this journey.”
More Comics, Toys, Games, Music, and Cosplay
Staying true to its anniversary theme, ICC 2026 is set to feature an even broader mix of pop culture programs.
Visitors can look forward to activities spanning comics, toys, music, movies, games, cosplay, collectible communities, and creator-focused programs.
One of the biggest highlights is the arrival of Mackenyu as the event’s Main Guest.
The Japanese actor has gained international recognition for several major roles, including Roronoa Zoro in One Piece, Enishi in Rurouni Kenshin, and Pegasus Seiya in Knights of the Zodiac.
But Mackenyu will not be the only international guest at ICC 2026.
The event will also welcome international cosplayers Hane Ame from Taiwan and Lily Universe from Vietnam.
The comic scene will also receive plenty of attention, with 12 Indonesian comic artists, six artists from Hong Kong, and six artists from Malaysia set to join this year’s event.
More Guests After Mackenyu?
With Mackenyu already announced as the Main Guest, one question naturally remains: could ICC 2026 have more surprise guests?
During the press conference, a representative from Seputar Otaku asked whether additional international guests would be joining the event.
Lulu confirmed that visitors can indeed expect more.“We have announced Mackenyu as the Main Guest, but there will also be supporting guest stars this year.”
The additional guests are part of ICC’s broader 10th-anniversary celebration, which will extend beyond movies and music.“For this special 10th anniversary event, we are not only bringing movies and music, but also toys, games, and various other programs to support the celebration.”
However, details about the supporting guests have yet to be revealed, leaving fans with more surprises to look forward to.
ICC Works with Comic Associations to Track Industry Growth
ICC is also placing greater attention on the development of Indonesia’s comic industry.
When asked about research into the popularity and development of Japanese and American comics, Lulu explained that ICC works directly with comic associations across Indonesia.“For our research, we work with comic associations throughout Indonesia. They help ICC exchange ideas and understand what the Indonesian comic scene looks like and how it is developing.”
Rather than relying solely on audience data, ICC also engages directly with creators and industry players to better understand the current landscape.
This approach allows the event to develop programs that reflect not only audience interests, but also the perspectives of the communities and creators shaping Indonesia’s comic industry.
Paramount and Sony Pictures Have More Surprises?
Another highlight discussed during the press conference was ICC’s collaboration with major movie studios, including Paramount and Sony Pictures.
When asked whether the studios would bring exclusive projects or content to ICC 2026, Lulu hinted that fans should expect surprises.“For the studio collaborations, they definitely have their own surprises and plans for what each brand will showcase this year, particularly from October through the end of the year.”
However, ICC is not yet able to reveal specific details.
According to Lulu, the studios themselves have the authority to decide what campaigns and materials will be presented during the event.“We cannot reveal too much because we do not have the authority from the brands. There will be surprises from the studios.”
A Decade of Pop Culture—and More to Come
With Mackenyu already confirmed as the Main Guest, international cosplayers joining the lineup, dozens of comic artists attending, and additional guest announcements and studio surprises still under wraps, Indonesia Comic Con 2026 is shaping up to be a major celebration of its 10-year journey.
More importantly, the anniversary reflects how much Indonesia’s pop culture community has grown—and how ICC has evolved alongside it.
