Indonesia Comic Con Celebrates 10 Years of Pop Culture with Its Biggest Fiesta Yet

The 10th edition of Indonesia Comic Con returns to JIExpo Kemayoran on October 3–4, bringing stars, creators, gamers, cosplayers, and fans together under one roof.

JAKARTA, September 22, 2026 — A decade of comics, cosplay, gaming, movies, fandoms, and pop culture is about to be celebrated as Indonesia Comic Con (ICC) marks its 10th anniversary this October.

Organized by Panorama Media, the 10th edition of Indonesia’s largest pop culture convention will take place on October 3–4, 2026, at Hall Expo & Arena, JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “A Decade of Pop Culture Fiesta,” reflecting ICC’s journey of bringing fans, creators, communities, brands, and industry players together in one massive platform.

The anniversary theme revolves around three key ideas: Celebration, Connection, and Future.

Celebration looks back at ICC’s decade-long journey and the community that has grown alongside it. Connection highlights the convention as a meeting point for different fandoms, creative disciplines, generations, and cultures. Meanwhile, Future focuses on creating new opportunities for creators, intellectual properties, communities, and the wider creative industry.“Ten years ago, we started with one simple belief: Indonesia’s pop culture fans deserve a place of their own to come together. What has kept Indonesia Comic Con going until its 10th edition isn’t us, but the community. That’s why this year’s theme is dedicated to them, while also reflecting our commitment to bringing local IPs onto the same stage as global characters,” said Andita Tirtawisata, Director of Panorama Media.

Mackenyu Leads an All-Star Pop Culture Lineup

Across two action-packed days, ICC 2026 will feature exhibitions, celebrity talks, meet & greets, cosplay programs, creator activities, gaming competitions, comic showcases, community programs, and collaborations with local and international partners.

Japanese actor Mackenyu will headline the event as the main guest, appearing on the main stage for fans.

The cosplay scene will also receive an international spotlight with renowned cosplayers HaneAme and Lily Universe, who will join the cosplay area alongside guests connected to the World Cosplay Summit (WCS).“For the 10th edition, we designed the event so visitors have plenty of reasons to stay for the full two days. There’s Mackenyu on the main stage, HaneAme and Lily Universe for the cosplay community, and comic creators from Hong Kong and Malaysia in the creator area. Everything is under one roof—and that’s what makes ICC feel like an annual reunion for the pop culture community,” said Lulu Anwar, Project Manager of Indonesia Comic Con.

Cosplay Takes Center Stage

Cosplay competitions will be represented by two major events.

The RAYA Championship of Cosplay is Indonesia Comic Con’s own original cosplay competition, while the Indonesia Cosplay Grand Prix serves as the national qualifying round for WCS Indonesia, the official pathway to the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan.

Through both competitions, ICC 2026 continues to strengthen Indonesia’s connection with the global cosplay community.

Indonesian Comics Meet the World

Comics will also take a prominent role at this year’s convention, with Indonesian creators sharing the spotlight with international artists.

In collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, ICC 2026 will feature comic creators from Hong Kong and Malaysia, creating opportunities for creative exchange while opening new possibilities for Indonesian creators and IPs to connect with international audiences.

Sunny Gho, Chairman of the Asosiasi Komik Indonesia (AKSI), highlighted how the Indonesian comic industry has evolved over the past decade.“The past ten years have changed the position of Indonesian comic creators. Today, many of us are working for publishers in the United States, Japan, and Europe. What we need now is a consistent space to meet—a place where creators, publishers, and readers can be in the same place, so opportunities don’t stop at conversations.”

Indonesian comic artist Ariela Kristantina, whose work has been published by international publishers including Marvel and Dark Horse Comics, also emphasized the importance of meeting audiences directly.“Working with international publishers taught me that they’re not looking for creators who simply imitate their style, but creators who have their own voice. At events like this, we get to meet readers and fellow comic artists directly and understand who our work is reaching. That’s something that’s difficult to get when you’re only working behind a drawing desk.”

Pop Culture and the Creative Economy

The growing role of pop culture within Indonesia’s creative economy is also being highlighted at ICC 2026.

Cecep Rukendi, Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, said platforms such as Indonesia Comic Con can help connect creators with audiences and industry players.“Pop culture today is a real part of our creative economy. Creative professionals need more than production support—they also need platforms that connect them with audiences and industry partners. Events such as Indonesia Comic Con play an important role in filling that gap.”

This year, ICC is also collaborating with Jakarta Futura Connectiva (JFC), a program under the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency.

The collaboration brings government institutions, creative communities, creators, and industry players into one ecosystem, while providing a platform for Jakarta’s creative economy to shine through pop culture.“The creative economy is one of Jakarta’s strengths, and pop culture is one of the most accessible entry points for younger generations. Through Jakarta Futura Connectiva, we want creators and communities in Jakarta to have direct access to industry players, allowing existing potential to grow into real business opportunities,” said Raymond Stefanus, Head of Marketing and Capital Access Sub-Coordinator at the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency.

GameHers Brings Women in Gaming to ICC

Gaming will also have a strong presence at the convention through UniPin GameHers, which will appear at ICC on October 3–4 as part of the GameHers 2026 pre-event series.

Under the theme “We Game, We Grow, We Glow,” GameHers will host a talkshow titled “Beyond the Screen: Gaming, Creativity & Finding Yourself.”

The program aims to inspire women to grow, create, and explore their potential through gaming and the creative industries.“GameHers’ presence at Indonesia Comic Con gives us an opportunity to bring our message of women’s empowerment to a wider audience. Gaming isn’t just about playing—it can also be a space to learn, create, build connections, and discover your potential. Through GameHers, we want more women to feel that they have a place to grow and feel confident exploring what they can do in this industry,” said Debora Imanuella, Senior VP Community & Media Networks at UniPin Global.

The ICC appearance will lead into the GameHers 2026 Main Event, scheduled for December 5, 2026.
