Yogyakarta, Indonesia — The second day of Prambanan Jazz Festival #12 proved that joy can be found in more than just music. Under the festival’s 2026 theme, “Celebrate The Joy,” audiences experienced an emotional celebration of home, culture, and shared memories at the magnificent Prambanan Temple.
For founder Anas Alimi, Prambanan Jazz Festival has always been more than a music festival. It is a place where people gather, reconnect, and create moments that feel familiar—a home that welcomes everyone back year after year.
That spirit of “coming home” resonated throughout the evening, especially with the arrival of two internationally acclaimed Indonesian artists: NIKI and Joey Alexander.
For many fans, NIKI’s appearance was more than a headline performance. Returning to Indonesia, the singer-songwriter delivered an emotional homecoming in front of thousands of fans who packed the festival grounds. The overwhelming turnout reflected not only her immense popularity but also the powerful connection between the global star and her home audience. Her performance became a heartfelt reminder that no matter how far an artist’s journey takes them, there will always be a place to return to.
The same message echoed through the extraordinary performance of the Joey Alexander Quartet featuring Jaleel Shaw, joined by special guests Dewa Budjana and Natasha Elvira. As one of Indonesia’s most celebrated jazz musicians on the international stage, Joey Alexander’s return carried deep significance. His sophisticated performance celebrated not only musical excellence but also the pride of representing Indonesia before the world while remaining deeply connected to his roots.
Beyond the music, Prambanan Jazz Festival continued to celebrate Indonesia’s artistic heritage through Wayang Bocor, a contemporary performance created by renowned visual artist Eko Nugroho in collaboration with internationally recognized choreographer Eko Supriyanto (Eko Pece). Blending traditional storytelling with modern artistic expression, the performance reflected the festival’s commitment to showcasing homegrown creativity on a world-class stage.
Throughout the evening, every corner of the festival embodied the essence of Celebrate The Joy. Music, visual arts, and performance merged into one meaningful experience that celebrated not only entertainment but also identity, belonging, and cultural pride.
As the second day came to a close beneath the timeless silhouette of Prambanan Temple, one message remained clear: no matter how far life takes us, there will always be a place to call home. Through unforgettable performances, heartfelt reunions, and inspiring artistic collaborations, Prambanan Jazz Festival 2026 once again proved that joy is greatest when it is shared—and home is where that joy begins.
