The uniqueness of this music video lies not only in aespa’s typical futuristic concept, but also in the anime-style illustrations depicted according to the members. This is a new breakthrough for aespa considering that this girl group is famous for its AI characters. However, specifically for this Japanese debut, they replaced the AI characters with anime illustrations.
Not only was it their first debut in Japan, aespa also provided the theme song for the anime BEYBLADE.
The song lyrics in Hot Mess tell about someone who is comfortable with themselves. Like several other aespa songs that talk about self-confidence, Hot Mess also spreads the message of being confident and accepting yourself.
In less than 24 hours, the Hot Mess music video also received more than 2 million views and became trending on YouTube Indonesia at number 13 in the music category. aespa also succeeded in placing Hot Mess at the top of the Japanese music chart, LINE MUSIC Top 100 in just 14 minutes since its release.
On its official social media, aespa also announced that it would hold a tour entitled “SYNK: PARALLEL LINE” in several cities in Japan. The cities that aespa will visit in its series of tours are Fukuoka, Nagoya, Saitama and Osaka. And also on 24th August , aespa will greet MY in Indonesia
