The event will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at The Westin Surabaya, with Host Edric Tjandra and Opening Act by Alena Wu, the concert performance will begin at 17.00 WIB.
Previously Michael Guang Liang had performed a 2 (two) day concert and sold out in Jakarta last March, then Michael Guang Liang will come back to Indonesia by bringing his latest tour concept to Surabaya. The concert titled “Lonely Planet Concert Tour 2.0” is a mesmerizing traditional concert performance, incorporating short animated films that weave a continuous narrative throughout the show. The story follows a lonely scientist who creates a robot; a narrative arc from loneliness to friendship and back, culminating in deep self-realization. Michael Wong, known for his warm and gentle vocal delivery, brings this story to life, exploring the nuanced sides of loneliness through evocative music and heartfelt performances.
This concert was not just a musical event, but also a soulful dialog. When Michael performed “Opposite Direction”, he uniquely turned away from the audience, creating a private space for self-reflection. This moment of introspection is captured and shared with the audience through the camera set-up, which symbolizes a mirror for various aspects of human relationships and inner dialogue.
The integration of live and pre-recorded visual effects along with real-time photography ensures a dynamic interaction between Michael and his audience.
