KIFF 2024 HAS BEGUN, PRESENTING 19 MUST-SEE FILMS

Korean and Indonesian film lovers, get ready! The Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF) is back from October 31 to November 3, 2024. This year, the 15th KIFF features 19 selected films that are sure to delight cinema fans.

Last night, on October 31, 2024, the festival officially opened at CGV Grand Indonesia in Jakarta, attended by the cast and director of My Annoying Brother.

KIFF 2024 will take place in three major cities in Indonesia: Jakarta, Bandung, and Palembang. The entire event will be held at CGV cinemas, specifically CGV Grand Indonesia in Jakarta, CGV Paris van Java in Bandung, and CGV Palembang Town Center in Palembang.

One surprise this year is the incredibly affordable ticket prices. Viewers only need to pay IDR 15,000 to enjoy a variety of interesting films from South Korea and Indonesia. Tickets have been on sale since Friday, October 25, 2024.

My Annoying Brother
My Annoying Brother tells the story of the sibling relationship between Kemal and Jaya, played by Vino G. Bastian and Angga Yunanda, respectively. Kemal is a judo athlete who has gone blind, while Jaya is a former convict. Due to Kemal’s condition, Jaya is able to be released from prison early. However, Jaya’s presence is not easy for Kemal to accept, as he realizes his brother has used him to gain freedom.

With a variety of genres ranging from drama to comedy and horror, KIFF 2024 promises an unforgettable viewing experience for film fans.

Laut Tengah
Another drama choice for KIFF 2024 is Laut Tengah. Released on October 3, 2024, this film is still showing in several cinemas besides the designated KIFF locations. While Laura is based on the true story of Laura Anna, Laut Tengah is an adaptation of a popular Wattpad story by Berliana Kimberly. The main character, Haia, achieves her dream of pursuing a master’s degree in South Korea. However, as the second wife, Haia faces the fate of Aisa, Bhumi’s first wife, who has passed away. Haia must choose between continuing her studies or returning to Indonesia to care for Aisa’s child.

Laura
For those who aren’t fans of horror films, there’s Laura, adapted from the true story of the late Laura Anna. Laura died after being paralyzed for two years due to an accident. Amanda Rawles brilliantly portrays Laura, who fights for justice by holding her boyfriend accountable for the crash. While Laura Anna’s real-life boyfriend is Gaga Muhammad, the film names him Jojo. Nearly 1 million viewers have seen Laura, so be sure to catch it at KIFF 2024.

Kang Mak from Pee Mak
KIFF 2024 will also screen Kang Mak from Pee Mak, which was released on August 15, 2024. This horror film has a comedic twist, similar to the original Thai film Pee Mak. It tells the story of a soldier returning home, unaware that his wife has died.

Over 5 million viewers have watched Kang Mak from Pee Mak from August to September 2024. Since it hasn’t been released on OTT platforms yet, don’t miss your chance to see it in theaters at KIFF 2024!

Siksa Kubur
Siksa Kubur, which was released in theaters in April 2024, is back on the big screen. Although it has already been shown on Netflix, the thrill of watching a horror film in theaters is something to look forward to. Directed by Joko Anwar, Siksa Kubur follows Sita, who doesn’t believe in religion and wants to prove whether there is punishment after death. To do this, Sita searches for the most sinful person to witness what happens after their death.
