The Korean film Fire Fighters will soon be released in Indonesian cinemas on February 7, 2025. This film, which was released earlier in Korea on December 4, 2024, is based on the true story of the tragic Hongje-dong fire in 2001.
Directed by Kwak Kyung-taek, who also wrote the script, Fire Fighters features a cast of well-known stars such as Joo Won, Kwak Do-won, Yoo Jae-myung, Lee Yoo-young, Kim Min-jae, Oh Dae-hwan, Lee Joon-hyuk, and Jang Young-nam.
The film focuses on the struggle of firefighters from the Western Fire Station as they try to extinguish the fire and rescue residents trapped in the intense blaze at the Hongje-dong housing complex.
In a high-pressure situation with limited equipment, the team fights relentlessly, risking their lives to help those in need.
One moment shown in the trailer highlights the firefighters’ determination, with a touching narrative:
“If I fail, that person will die.”
Their bravery and dedication are evident, especially when they have to act quickly in dangerous conditions to save the lives of those trapped inside the burning building.
Some of the main characters in the film include Cheol Woong (Joo Won), a rookie firefighter, In Ki (Yoo Jae-myung), the rescue team leader, and Seo Hee (Lee Yoo-young), a paramedic who plays a key role in the rescue operations.
Other characters include Yong Tae (Kim Min-jae), Hyo Jong (Oh Dae-hwan), and Gi Cheol (Lee Joon-hyuk), each with their own role in facing the enormous challenges during the fire.
With a story full of tension and emotion, Fire Fighters invites the audience to appreciate the courage of firefighters, who often work under high risks to save others’ lives.
