THE SNITCH brings together a powerhouse ensemble of Korea’s most talented actors, from KANG Ha-neul, YOO Hai-jin, and PARK Hae-joon to RYU Kyung-soo and CHAE Won-been, delivering electrifying performances and intense chemistry on screen.
Leading the film, KANG Ha-neul—known for his diverse roles in films like DONGJU: THE PORTRAIT OF A POET, NEW TRIAL, MIDNIGHT RUNNERS, and LOVE RESET, as well as TV series such as WHEN THE CAMELLIA BLOOMS and SQUID GAME SEASON 2—takes on the role of Lee Kang-su, a street-smart broker who trades insider information between drug criminals and law enforcement for personal gain. Speaking about his approach to the role, KANG shared, “I focused on finding a balance—Lee Kang-su shouldn’t seem too righteous, but he also shouldn’t come across as purely villainous.” His character arc, which evolves from a carefree hustler to a deeply conflicted figure, will showcase his signature duality and depth as an actor.
Starring alongside him, YOO Hai-jin—a veteran actor with four 10-million-ticket blockbusters (KING AND THE CLOWN, VETERAN, A TAXI DRIVER, and EXHUMA)—portrays prosecutor Ku Gwan-hee, an ambitious and ruthless figure who allies with ‘THE SNITCH’ in his relentless pursuit of power. YOO described his character as someone who “keeps his ambitions hidden beneath the surface rather than openly expressing them. I had to carefully decide just how much of his inner desires should be revealed to make him truly compelling.” His portrayal is expected to add an intense psychological edge to the film.
Meanwhile, PARK Hae-joon, known for his commanding performances in BELIEVER, EMERGENCY DECLARATION, 12.12: THE DAY, and the TV series THE WORLD OF THE MARRIED, steps into the role of Det. Oh Sang-jae, a narcotics detective willing to risk everything to take down the drug trade. To prepare for his role, PARK extensively researched real-life narcotics officers and the shadowy world of ‘THE SNITCH,’ ensuring an authentic and gripping portrayal.
At the heart of THE SNITCH is a tense three-way conflict between Lee Kang-su, prosecutor Ku Gwan-hee, and Det. Oh Sang-jae, each driven by different motives and agendas. Director HWANG Byeong-gug explained, “I needed actors with wide emotional range—performers who could convey both innocence and darkness with equal depth.” The result is a riveting battle of wits and ambition, fueled by top-tier performances.
Joining the lead trio are RYU Kyung-soo and CHAE Won-been, who add even more intensity to the film’s dynamic cast. RYU Kyung-soo—renowned for his scene-stealing roles in SAMJIN COMPANY ENGLISH CLASS, HOSTAGE: MISSING CELEBRITY, BROKER, and HELLBOUND—portrays Cho Hoon, the untouchable son of a presidential candidate, whose involvement escalates the stakes of the story. Meanwhile, CHAE Won-been, who gained widespread acclaim after winning five acting awards for her gripping performance in DOUBT (2024), plays Uhm Su-jin, an actress who spirals into ruin after getting caught in a drug scandal. Seeking revenge, she becomes a key player in the dangerous underworld of narcotics. Director HWANG praised CHAE’s performance, calling it “one of the most striking and unforgettable performances I’ve seen.” At its core, THE SNITCH is more than just a crime thriller—it’s a gripping portrait of power struggles, secret deals, and the blurred lines between justice and corruption in South Korea’s drug enforcement world. As the characters’ relationships shift and collide, the film delivers a high-octane blend of action, drama, and psychological warfare, heightened by the cast’s electrifying performances and chemistry.
