Miles Films warmly welcomes fans with the premiere trailer of their latest film, Rangga & Cinta — a surprising and heartfelt continuation of the iconic Ada Apa dengan Cinta? (2002).
This two-minute trailer blends iconic flashbacks from the legendary film with a fresh new musical touch that becomes the heart and soul of this new version. The classic song Ku Bahagia by Melly Goeslaw and Anto Hoed returns, now beautifully transformed into a captivating musical performance full of emotion.
The story kicks off with the conflict between Rangga (El Putra Sarira) and Cinta (Leya Princy). Rangga remains cool and indifferent despite just winning a poetry competition, while Cinta struggles not only with her own feelings but also with the dynamics within her close-knit group — Alya (Jasmine Nadya), Maura (Kyandra Sembel), Milly (Katyana Mawira), Karmen (Daniella Tumiwa), and Mamet (Rafly Altama).
The vibrant visuals, drenched in the colorful hues of the 2000s, evoke deep nostalgia but are also sprinkled with fresh, modern surprises. One standout moment is the appearance of Boris Bokir as Limbong, the book vendor, taking over the iconic role originally played by Gito Rollies.
The trailer ends with El Putra Sarira’s soulful rendition of Suara Hati Seorang Kekasih by Melly Goeslaw, leaving a lasting impression and building anticipation for a more complex, hopeful love story.
“The trailer-making process was quite lengthy because we wanted to balance nostalgia with fresh, new elements for the audience,” said producer Mira Lesmana during the trailer launch in South Jakarta on Monday, July 28.
Producer Nicholas Saputra added, “It’s such a relief to finally deliver something special for AADC fans and Rangga & Cinta lovers. We’re very optimistic that these emotions will resonate with viewers.”
Director Riri Riza explained, “We live in a new era, and this film has been on my mind for a long time. We worked hard to find a way to present this classic story from a fresh perspective. The characters Alya, Milly, Karmen, Cinta, and Maura are brought to life anew by an incredible cast.”
Rangga & Cinta is set to hit Indonesian cinemas on October 2, 2025. Don’t miss this timeless love story, now with a musical twist that will tug at your heartstrings.
