7 Film Festivals at CGV, from the Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF) to Jakarta Film Week (JFW)

CGV Cinemas has become a unique and different entertainment venue, not only providing a cinematic experience through the films screened but also serving as a platform for creativity, education, and art for the community and the general public. Year after year, CGV has become a home for various film festivals, offering audiences the opportunity to explore quality works from different countries and fostering a closer community through art and culture. Through support and collaboration with various institutions and communities, CGV has become the host of a series of popular film festivals in Indonesia, including:

  1. KIFF (Korea Indonesia Film Festival) One of the most anticipated festivals every year, the Korea Culture Center (KCC) in collaboration with CGV Cinemas presents the Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF), which this year will screen 19 top films from Korea and Indonesia at 3 CGV locations: CGV Grand Indonesia Jakarta, CGV Paris Van Java Bandung, and CGV Palembang Trade Center from October 31 to November 3, 2024.
  2. Jakarta Film Week (JFW) With a vision to create space for local filmmakers to showcase their work to the world, Jakarta Film Week returns from October 23 to 27, 2024, featuring 140 films from 55 countries, with CGV Grand Indonesia as one of the screening venues.
  3. Japanese Film Festival (JFF) For fans of films from the Land of the Rising Sun, JFF is organized by The Japan Foundation and will run from November 7 to December 22, 2024, at CGV cinemas in 6 cities: Jakarta, Makassar, Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Bandung, and Surabaya. This year’s Japanese Film Festival will present 14 selected Japanese films.
  4. Italian Film Festival (ITAFF) Italian film enthusiasts can be proud, as for the first time, 5 films from the Venice International Film Festival will be screened in Indonesia as part of the Italian Film Festival, offering a unique and profound European cinematic perspective to audiences. ITAFF was held from April 24 to 28 in person in Jakarta and Bandung.
  5. Thai Film Festival Featuring 6 films on August 24, 31, and September 7, 2024, at CGV Grand Indonesia, the Thai Embassy in Jakarta collaborated with several parties to hold the Thai Film Festival for cultural exchange between Thailand and Jakarta.
  6. JWC (Jakarta World Cinema) A total of 120 films from 61 countries were enjoyed by more than 14,000 viewers at Jakarta World Cinema. In addition to showcasing various cinematic works from different countries, Jakarta World Cinema also invited legendary national and international filmmakers online via KlikFilm and in person at CGV Cinemas from September 21 to 28.
  7. ASEAN-Korea Film Festival (AKFF) Introducing popular culture and strengthening communication ties between Korea and ASEAN, the Republic of Korea’s Diplomatic Mission for ASEAN presents the ASEAN-Korea Film Festival. A total of 9 films were screened over 4 days at CGV cinemas during last year’s AKFF.

By supporting these various initiatives, CGV Cinemas Indonesia CEO, Mr. Mark Nah, emphasized that CGV is committed to being a welcoming home for all segments of society. “We consistently strive to create a space where dynamic collaboration and cultural exchange between countries can take place, one of which is through film festivals,” he stated in a press release on Monday, October 28, 2034. “In the future, CGV will always open opportunities for young filmmakers to participate in film festivals and introduce their works to the world,” he concluded.
