My Annoying Brother has been selected to open the Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF) 2024. The film will premiere on the opening night at CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta, on October 31, 2024.
Sheila Timothy, the producer of My Annoying Brother, expressed her excitement about collaborating with KIFF, especially since this film is the first Indonesian film to open the festival’s history.
“We are very happy to be invited to collaborate with KIFF and to be the opening film. Coincidentally, we are also releasing on October 24, so by the time KIFF comes, it will still be fresh,” Sheila Timothy said at CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

According to her, My Annoying Brother, which is a remake of the South Korean film of the same title, conveys the universal relationship between siblings.
“And of course, everyone knows that My Annoying Brother is a remake of the Korean adaptation of the same title, showing that the universal language of siblings, love, and family can be translated into any culture. Indonesia and Korea share similarities that we can celebrate together,” Sheila Timothy added.
The selection of My Annoying Brother as the opening film for KIFF 2024 is seen as having a close connection to Korea.
“We indeed collaborated with friends from Base (Entertainment) because My Annoying Brother is closely tied to Korea, as it is clearly a remake. So, we felt it was a good decision to invite our friends from Base to collaborate, along with Lifelike Pictures,” said a KIFF representative.
The director of My Annoying Brother, Dinna Jasanti, hopes that her work can rekindle family relationships during the viewing at KIFF 2024.
“I hope this film becomes a topic that can start conversations about our relationships. Perhaps the words we have never said to our families can be spoken after watching this film, and the hugs that we haven’t done in a long time can happen again,” Dinna Jasanti concluded.
My Annoying Brother tells the story of a national judo athlete who suffers an injury during a match, resulting in blindness. This incident leads his brother to apply for conditional release from prison to care for his blind sibling. Initially, the brother exploits his sibling’s condition, but over time, new revelations change their relationship.
You can watch My Annoying Brother and 18 other films at KIFF 2024 for just Rp15,000. Tickets have been available since Friday, October 15, 2024. You can purchase them online through the CGV app and website, or visit CGV, the venues for KIFF 2024.
In 2024, KIFF will be held in-person at three locations: CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta; CGV Paris Van Java, Bandung; and CGV Palembang Town Center, Palembang. The festival will run from October 31 to November 3, 2024.
